A NEW APPROACH THAT ENABLES GRID MODERNIZATION

Our business model is focused on innovative ways to break through existing limits on infrastructure upgrades – the “pain points” that utilities and other energy developers face. We offer a risk-transferred private-public investment model, with an emphasis on revenue-neutral project architectures and direct-to-consumer engagement strategies.

1. FEASIBILITY ANALYSIS

Infrastructure Energy partners with Leidos Engineering as we analyze and design our projects. Our work begins with an understanding of existing infrastructure within a given utility and community, where we examine the present-day built environment and suggest several different development scenarios, providing a detailed cost/benefit analysis for each scenario.

2. TECHNOLOGIES AND ENGINEERING PARTNERS

Following the conclusions of the analysis, we add best-of-breed technologies and additional engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractors as required.

3. privatE - public PROJECT FINANCING

Using a proprietary investment model, IE is uniquely able to provide low-cost project funding for energy infrastructure upgrade projects, utilizing long-term financing from major North American pension funds.

Our model includes a custom cost/benefit analysis, and our deals are typically structured as long-term off-take contracts (including Operations and Maintenance, O&M) which provide significant depreciation benefits to utilities.

4. REGULATORY SUPPORT

We engage with leading consulting firms to seek independent verification of project economics. Our projects are optimized for minimal rate impact, and developed in the context of a given utilities current regulatory mechanisms. When needed, we provide regulatory contractual and submission support.

5. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

We assist utilities by conducting in-depth data analytics, customer segmentation, surveys, stakeholder interviews and focus groups, drafting and implementing comprehensive customer engagement strategies.

When needed, we engage directly with communities to communicate the benefits of the development projects we are undertaking.
